Ivan Lanin (Jakarta, Indonesia; January 16 1975) is an Internet expert in Indonesia.
Ivan Lanin primarily known as an activist who advocated the user of good and right bahasa Indonesia and introduce the Indonesian equivalent of foreign terms, among others, on several web sites such as Facebook and Twitter.[2]
Ivan started writing in the Indonesian Wikipedia since 2006 (he signed up with username IvanLanin on February 18 2006)[3] with his first edits on the article entitled Pajak.[4][5][6]
Soon after, bahasa Indonesia was going to be well considered by him.[1] Within 2007, he joined a mailing-list, called Bahtera, in which its memberships closed to bahasa Indonesia critics and lovers.[2] By end of 2008, Wikimedia Indonesia was established by 19 people, two of them were Revo Arka Giri Soekatno and him.[7][8] On Members Summit, end of 2008, he was chosen as Executive Director of Wikimedia Indonesia.[7] Ivan take out himself to be rest off the task in end of 2009 because of his very limited free-times.[1] In midterm of 2009, he approved by Magister Teknologi Informasi Universitas Indonesia to reach a postgraduate degree in that educational institution.[1] Coincidentally, he was also accepted to be an editor in Google bahasa Indonesia.[1]
In order to help good and true bahasa vastly distributed, Ivan developing a program, called "Kateglo", a sort term of "kamus" (dictionary), "tesaurus" (thesaurus), and "glosarium" (glossary).[1] He developed the program together with his colleague, Romi Hardiyanto, an Indonesian translator of Firefox browser software.[2] Ivan for first time meets the idea to develop the Kateglo on 9 May 2009.[1] He then writes some database structures of the program for 3 days only. Ivan taken the responsibility to develop the scripts, while Romi, made some debuggings.[1]
